Where is the Global Warming Dividend?

Happy Snowman!

Happy Snowman!

In 2000, noted climate scientist Dr. David Viner predicted that “within a few years, winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”.”

hmmm. Then why are cities and states running out of money for snow removal and we are barely into January?  From the Wall Street Journal:

Maryland’s State Highway Administration has spent more than $27 million this year on snow removal, the bulk of that clearing away a massive pre-Christmas storm. But the agency’s annual snow-removal budget is just $26 million.

Shouldn’t we be enjoying a “Global Warming Dividend?” Sort of like the peace dividend that President Clinton cashed in on in the 1990’s.  If global warming is really happening then it should be, I don’t know, warmer?!

If you are in the south or mid-Atlantic states, enjoy the snow.  More is on the way if the AccuWeather Winter forecast continues on track.  That’s bad news for cities and states that are already out of cash to remove all that frozen stuff.

Good thing the Senate has all but given up on trying to pass Cap & Trade.

This was taken in the midst of the biggest snow in 40 years in Western Oregon. I thought it might be fun to have a little competition. Come up with the best caption! There won’t be an official winner per se’ but we will all have a good time, no doubt.

I’ll get it started with a couple of my own:

“Global Warming Defeated by Oregon Resident!”
“Global Warming is a Snow Job”
“Sign of the Times”
